Our Riding Boots
How they’re made
Making a pair of riding boots already starts in your local equestrian shop: that is where the customer’s legs are measured. The design of the boot is created in our configurator on customizeyourboots.com. The size form and sometimes a footprint are then sent to Petrie’s workshop, along with a description of how the boot should look like in the end.
An ancient craft…
In the workshop in Brummen, our craftsmen work on the riding boots in a traditional way. Many actions are involved. In the initial phase, when we start designing, we are creative. We then assess each design for functionality and portability. If we proceed to the production of a pair of riding boots, the pattern is projected on the cutting table and cut out, possibly processed with special finishing requirements and stitched into a shaft. Then we glue or sew the sole, depending on the model. The next step is shaping it to the leg for a perfect fit. Once this has happened, we feed and polish the leather with a special cream. The whole process consists of over 280 actions, many of which are manual.
