Richard Jones

Richard Jones started riding at the age of eight years old, competing in showjumping and eventing for the Pony Club. After leaving school he moved away to get a better foundation in dressage, which was when he met his wife Victoria. At the age of 18, he moved back to his home in Rutland with Victoria to set up their Eventing business, Team Jones Equestrian.

Career Definitive Partners: Alfies Clover en Kilballyboy Bob

Richard’s top rides of most recent years have been Alfies Clover and Kilballyboy Bob, both by the thoroughbred sire Tajrassi. He enjoyed much success at top level on these outstanding horses, including 4th at Blenheim CCI4* with Kilballyboy Bob in 2018. With Alfies Clover he also enjoyed top finishes at CCI4* including 7th Bramham (2018), and 4th Bramham (2019), and accumulated an impressive CCI5* record, finishing 7th at Burghley (2018 and 2022), 5th at Bicton (2019) and 10th Badminton (2022). Alfies Clover retired from competition in 2024 at the age of 17, fit, sound, and still at the top of his game.

Richard rides in the Petrie Riva boot both for everyday training, and at competitions. “A superb all-round boot for eventing.
